SUPPLIES FOR THE INDUSTRY - MINERALS

GRANULAR SULPHUR

Thanks to a JV Agreement signed with a Middle East Trader, Sukses has got the exclusivity to sell the Sulphur into the Congolese market; also, because of the JV Agreement signed with Lake Oil Group, an strong Logistics Company based in Tanzania, we are able to offer the product on DAP basis, delivering direct to the mines in DRC.

Granular sulfur can be used in the mining industry for various purposes, particularly in the processing of ores containing metal sulfides. Here are a few ways granular sulfur is utilized in mining:

1. Flotation: Granular sulfur is often used in flotation processes to separate valuable minerals from gangue minerals. In sulfide ore flotation, sulfur compounds are added to create a froth that selectively attaches to the target mineral particles, allowing them to be separated from the waste material.

2. Sulfuric Acid Production: Sulfuric acid is a crucial chemical in many mining processes, including leaching, ore beneficiation, and metal refining. Granular sulfur can be used as a raw material for sulfuric acid production. In the Contact Process, sulfur is burned to produce sulfur dioxide gas, which is then oxidized to sulfur trioxide and subsequently reacted with water to form sulfuric acid.

3. Oxidative Leaching: In some cases, granular sulfur is used in oxidative leaching processes to extract metals from sulfide ores. Sulfur is added to the leaching solution to enhance the oxidation of sulfide minerals, facilitating the dissolution of metals into the solution.

4. Sulfur Precipitation: In hydrometallurgical processes, granular sulfur may be added to solutions containing dissolved metals to precipitate them as metal sulfides. This precipitation step helps in the recovery and purification of metals from solution.

These are just a few examples of how granular sulfur is utilized in the mining industry to facilitate various processes involved in ore processing and metal extraction.

FUEL - PETROL

As a complement of the trading of sulfur we have seen the opportunity of offering Fuel to the same mines that are buying from us, expanding our product portfolio in the Congolese mining market.

We have the capacity to deliver directly to the mines, thanks to our logistics partner´s capacity, who is able to receive the product at Dar Es Salaam, stored it in their facilities and transport it all the way to DRC.

Our partner is an established fuel oil trader, with storage facilities – both owned and leased – in strategic locations including Rotterdam, Fujairah (UAE), Singapore and the Caribbean. Every month they ship approximately 3.8 million tonnes of product, around half of which is used by refineries as feedstock.

In the mining industry, several types of fuels are commonly used to power various equipment and machinery. The choice of fuel depends on factors such as the type of equipment, its power requirements, availability, and cost-effectiveness. Here are some of the main types of fuel used in the mining industry:

These are the most common types we can delivery:

  • Diesel: Diesel fuel is one of the most widely used fuels in the mining industry. It is commonly used to power heavy-duty vehicles and machinery such as haul trucks, excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and generators. Diesel engines are favored for their high torque output and durability, making them suitable for rugged mining environments.
  • Gasoline: Gasoline is used in smaller engines and equipment such as light-duty vehicles, pumps, compressors, and smaller generators. While gasoline engines are less common in large-scale mining operations compared to diesel engines, they are still used in certain applications where lower power requirements are sufficient.

Coltan

It is one of our main products in the list because of it strategic value; also because of this, we have decided to take the ore to Dubai and sell it there, with our Local Dubai Company, to give confidence to our customers who have had bad experiences buying the product in Mombasa.

Coltan is short for columbite-tantalite, which is a metallic ore that is primarily composed of columbite and tantalite. It is found mainly in the eastern regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and in other parts of Central and West Africa.

Columbite and tantalite are important sources of the elements niobium and tantalum, respectively. These elements are used in the production of electronic devices such as smartphones, laptops, and other high-tech equipment, as well as in the aerospace and medical industries.

The mining and trade of coltan have been controversial due to concerns about human rights abuses and environmental damage associated with its extraction. The profits from coltan mining have also been linked to armed conflict and violence in the region. Various initiatives have been launched to promote responsible and sustainable sourcing of coltan, including certification schemes and supply chain traceability programs.

Because of these facts, we only work with mines that have been approved by our legal and technical team after the Due Dilligence  that we do to each of our suppliers.

Our Suppliers are working mainly in Uganda, where the conflict has not affected the communities; all the Coltan is exported through Mombasa, Kenya.

Copper Cathodes

One of our main products are the copper cathodes, required for many industries worldwide.

We have developed a JV Agreement with two important producers of Cathodes from DRC to secure the supply of these goods.

Our clients are mainly from Europe and Asia (China), regions where the highest consumption of these minerals is located.

Copper cathodes are high-purity copper metal sheets that are produced through the electrolytic refining process. During this process, copper ore is first mined and then smelted to produce impure copper anodes. These anodes are then immersed in an electrolytic solution and subjected to an electric current that causes the copper to dissolve and plate onto a cathode, which is a thin sheet of high-purity copper.

Copper cathodes are typically 99.99% pure or higher, and they are used as a raw material in a variety of industries, including electrical and electronic, construction, and transportation. They can be further processed into copper wire, tubing, and other products. Due to their high purity and consistent quality, copper cathodes are highly valued in the market and are often traded as a commodity.

The Global Copper Cathodes Market is Segmented on the basis of Type, Application, and Geography.

MINERALS & METALS

Manganese

This is the only mineral that Sukses is mining at the moment in the mines that belong to an associated company, located in Mkushi, eastern part of zambia, where an entire operation is taking place. The company has excavators, trucks, loaders, crusher and a yard to sort the mineral and send to the end buyer.

The Mineral is sold locally to a Plant that processes it for the steel Industry.

Manganese is mainly used in mining as an alloying agent in the production of steel and other metal alloys. It serves as a deoxidizer and desulfurizer, improving the properties of steel, such as hardness and resistance to wear and tear. Manganese is also used as a catalyst in certain chemical reactions and as a pigment in the production of ceramics and glass. Additionally, it has applications in battery production, water treatment, and fertilizer production.

MINERALS & METALS

Cobalt Concentrate

It is one of the most recent products in our trading list, becoming strategic because of its use for a segment of our clients.

We bring it from DRC and Zambia, direct to bonded warehouses of the preference of our clients.

Cobalt concentrate is a material that is produced through the processing of cobalt ores. Cobalt is often found in association with other metals such as copper and nickel, and as such, cobalt concentrate typically contains other metals as well.

The process of producing cobalt concentrate involves mining the ore, crushing it, and then separating the cobalt from the other metals through a process known as froth flotation. In this process, chemicals are added to the crushed ore to create a frothy mixture, which is then agitated to separate the cobalt from the other metals.

Cobalt concentrate typically contains between 20% and 40% cobalt, as well as varying amounts of copper, nickel, and other metals. It is often further processed through a hydrometallurgical process to extract pure cobalt metal, which can then be used in a variety of applications, including the production of rechargeable batteries, superalloys, and catalysts.

In the copper-cobalt ore bodies of Central Africa, where Sukses is having its operation, cobalt occurs as sulfides (carrollite, linnaeite, or siegenite), the oxide minerals heterogenite (hydrated cobalt oxide) and asbolite (a mixture of manganese and cobalt oxides), and the carbonate sphaerocobaltite.

MINERALS & METALS

Gold

It is mainly produced in Rufunsa, the eastern part of Zambia where small-scale producers bring together their expertise to extract the metal from one of our mines in this region.

Also, we are working together with one cooperative of producers from this region where we are giving the tools and capital for them to produce and bring the product to our facilities where we smelt and sell to the local Zambian Market in Lusaka.

One of the projects for 2.023 is to take control of an existing gold plant located at Mumbwa, western zambian region to wash the mineral waste (sands with a small content of gold and silver) that these regions are storing for years of artisanal gold production.
